Imation 17532 LTO-3 Tape

Imation LTO-3 backup tape cartridges have a longer archival life and their durable base film ensures faster transfer rates and low operational costs. The capacity of Imation 17532 LTO-3 tape in native form is 400 GB. Advanced features have been employed by Imation in the development of high quality LTO data tape cartridges that have the capability to transfer compressed information at rate of 160 MB/s.

LTO-3 Tapes

The fourth and current generation of LTO Tape (LTO-3) began shipping in 2007,  again doubling the native storage capacity to 800GB, and providing a 50%  performance increase to 120MB/s. Like its previous generation counterpart, LTO-3 is also available in a WORM  format for regulatory compliance. LTO-3 also added a feature to allow LTO-3  drives to encrypt data before it is written to tape. All LTO-3 drives must be aware of encrypted  tapes, but are not required to actually support the encryption process.

Quantum is another company that produces LTO tapes. This Quantum product,  the Quantum MR-L3MQN-01 is an LTO-3 tape. The MR-L3MQN-01 has a 400 GB native and 800 GB compressed capacity. Transfer rates applicable to the MR-L3MQN-01 LTO-3 tape  media are 80 MB/s native and 160 MB/s compressed. The MR-L3MQN-01 is compatible with LTO-3 and LTO-4 tape media, it is not however  compatible with LTO-1 and LTO-2 tape drives. The MR-L3MQN-01 also features the LTO-CM which allows for storage of data  usage statistics, etc.

Sony LTX400GWW LTO Tape

The Sony LTX400GWW is an LTO-3 Ultrium tape cartridge.  The LTX400GWW LTO-3 tape has a 400 GB native and 800 GB compressed capacity. Transfer rates for the LTX400GWW are 80 MB/s native and 160 MB  compressed. The Sony LTX400GWW is  one of the first tapes in which the A3MP (Advanced Alloy Armored Metal  Particle) technology is employed. This coupled with the highly accurate servo  signal technology ensures that your LTX400GWW tape has high output characteristics, is better able to withstand environmental  conditions and due to super orientation technology the metal particles are  aligned in the same direction to reduce noise and improve recording. Thus not  only is the LTX400GWW more reliable,  its performance is also much improved over other tapes. Like any other LTO tape, the LTX400GWW also features an LTO-CM (Linear Tape Open - Cartridge Memory).  The LTO-CM allows for storage of  cartridge related data and can be read with a cartridge memory reader, be it  external or internal.

It features the use of a shock resistant cartridge mechanism  to prevent against damage and a 4KB cartridge memory chip for quick file  access.
